Prepare for a significant shift towards gender equality in the EU's business world!
In June 2022, the European Council and Parliament signed a new law requiring listed companies to have more women in leadership positions. By 2026, underrepresented genders must occupy 40% of non-executive director positions or 33% of all director positions, representing a major milestone in pursuing gender equality, a decade in the making.
Gender inequality in executive positions and supervisory boards of Croatian companies is a problem that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has highlighted for many years. According to data from the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), only 26.2% of women were on the boards of listed companies in Croatia in 2020, while Deloitte's report from the same year indicates 30%.
To attain complete gender equality in the corporate arena, it is essential to advocate for and select women for all tiers of management, comprising top-level executive roles and supervisory boards.
