PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Dr. Erik Jacobi holds a BA in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Nottingham, an MSc in Management and Marketing from Lancaster University, and a PhD in Marketing from Lancaster University. In-between his studies he worked in marketing management, market research, and sales in the consumer goods industry in Germany and France, as well as in advertising planning in the UK. He is currently a Lecturer in Marketing at The University of Essex, where he leads the business school’s research stream on Experimental Consumer Research and Neuromarketing as well as the university’s interfaculty Neuromarketing Lab and Consumer Neuroscience Group. He has led several consultancy, contract research, and commercialisation projects with a focus on helping startups and SMEs improve their marketing strategies and communications. His current research focuses on the role of valuation practices in strategy development; brand activism; and neuromarketing. His work has been published in the Journal of Brand Management, Journal of Marketing Management, Marketing Theory, and Sociology of Health and Illness.
