Historically some 60% of past M&A ended up in failure. The reason: creating value through M&A requires more than just finance skills, knowledge and tricks. It is about thinking through the entire process from identification of companies to value assessment to integration. In this brief session, we will look at the different critical steps that must be taken in order to realise the potential gains promised by M&A.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

Terence Tse is a globally recognized educator, author, and speaker. He is a co-founder and Executive Director of Nexus FrontierTech, an AI scale up. Terence is a co-author of two international best sellers on Amazon: ”The AI Republic: Building the Nexus Between Humans and Intelligent Automation” and “Understanding How the Future Unfolds: Using DRIVE to Harness the Power of Today’s Megatrends.” He also authored “Corporate Finance: The Basics.” His next book, “The Great Remobilization”, published by MIT Press, is to be released at the start of 2023.

Terence is also a popular and entertaining commentator and has appeared on many television and radio shows as well as periodicals. He has run seminars and workshops as well as given speeches technology and digital transformation, megatrends as well as topics in finance and economics for and to some 50 organizations.

He is on the board various entities including Nexus FrontierTech, Thyreality, Tolar, Circular Economy Alliance.

Terence started his career as an investment banker at Schroders, Citibank and Lazard Brothers followed by being a consultant at EY focusing on UK financial services. Terence obtained his doctoral degree from the Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, UK.

Before joining academia, Terence worked in mergers and acquisitions at Schroders, Citibank and Lazard Brothers in Montréal and New York. He also worked in London as a consultant at Ernst & Young focusing on UK financial services. Additionally, as an independent consultant, he advised Shell International, F&C Asset Management, Alliance Boots, Alitalia as well as a Cambridge University-based biotech start-up. In addition to frequent appearance in academic publications, Terence is featured on the Harvard Business Review Italia discussing competitiveness, the Greek edition of The Economist covering the debt crisis and The Guardian on the subject of youth unemployment. He is currently Head of Competitiveness Studies at i7 Institute for Innovation and Competitiveness by ESCP Europe, an academic think-tank based in Paris and London. Terence was also featured in May 2013 as “Professor of the week” by the Financial Times for the FT Lexicon.
