AI for Social Impact Hackathon 2024: Innovate with Purpose
AI for Social Impact Hackathon 2024 invites high school students, university students, and young innovators to use artificial intelligence to address real-world social challenges. Organized by Impact Hub Ljubljana, Noordung Center, Kovačnica, Hashnet, Technology Park Ljubljana, Dravinjski Business Club, and COTRUGLI Business School, this hackathon offers more than competition—it’s a chance to create lasting change.
Throughout the process, participants will collaborate in teams, receive guidance from expert mentors, and tackle practical challenges using AI.
What Does the AI for Social Impact Hackathon Offer?
The AI for Social Impact Hackathon 2024 is a unique opportunity for innovation and purpose-driven creativity. Participants will:
- Form teams of up to four members
- Work on current environmental, healthcare, tourism, and business challenges
- Receive expert mentorship
- Compete for a share of the €8,000 prize pool
- Expand their professional network and explore collaboration opportunities
This hackathon enables young talents to not only showcase their skills but also co-create solutions with real social impact.
The Prizes: Fueling Innovation and Growth
The prize pool totals €8,000, including €2,000 in cash and €6,000 in practical rewards, such as:
- €2,000 in cash prizes (Dravinjski Business Club)
- €2,200 in coworking space rental (Kovačnica, Impact Hub Ljubljana)
- €2,500 in mentorship and business development support (Technology Park Ljubljana, Noordung Center)
- €1,200 in lab access for 3D, AR, and VR innovation (Technology Park Ljubljana)
- €600 in Noordung Center experience vouchers
These prizes are designed to support the further development of winning solutions and participants’ long-term projects.
Challenges: Real Problems, Real Solutions
Participants will choose from six challenges that focus on solving real-world issues with AI-powered solutions:
- Sustainable tourism development with AI (Cash prize: €1,000)
- AI for sustainable business operations (Cash prize: €1,000)
- AI-supported coworking self-hosting solutions
- AI-powered packaging tracking and recycling systems
- AI analysis of satellite data for climate monitoring
- AI applications in therapeutic and healthcare settings
The online event on November 13, 2024, will offer deeper insight into each challenge and help teams start planning their approach.
